Denzel Reacts to AI Slop
Matt: “Let's see what Denzel has to say about AI slop.”
Cory: “Why are you making AI slop?”
Denzel: “Slop?”
Denzel: “Who the hell say I'm making slop?“
Cory: “My friends think you are using AI just because it's easier.“
Denzel: “Come here, boy, when I talk to you.”
Denzel: “I asked you a question. Did you paint in the lighting by hand on your last project, or did you simulate it in Blender?”
Cory: “Blender.”
Denzel: “Exactly. That's easier, right?”
Cory: “Yeah.”
Matt: “So I might reframe easier here as the ability to iterate faster and see whether an idea holds up.”
Denzel: “Remember when I started with drawing, then made the jump to photography?”
Cory: “Yes, sir.”
Denzel: “Then video?”
Cory: “Yes, sir.”
Denzel: “Then 3D?”
Cory: “Yes, sir.”
Denzel: “Then VFX?”
Cory: “Yes, sir.”
Denzel: “Why you think that is?”
Cory: “’Cause it's easier?”
Denzel: “Hell no, not because it's easier. Why do you think that is?”
Cory: “’Cause you are lazy?”
Denzel: “Lazy?”
Denzel: “I’ve literally spent nine hours straight painting skin pores on a single image just for the hell of it, and you think I'm lazy? You're about the biggest fool I ever saw. It's because it's fun.”
Matt: “This definitely resonates. The creative process, solving problems, building something new really does have a joyful feeling to it.”
Denzel: “I’ve spent the last 10 years chasing creative freedom, sick of wasting my energy on other people's projects just for a paycheck, craving the space to make something truly creative. People wanna call it slop? I'll slap a cowboy hat on you if I feel like it. Everyone's terrified, convinced the studios don't need artists anymore. It's the artist who doesn't need the studio.”
Matt: “If you've always wanted to be the next Quentin Tarantino, there is no one who can really stop you now from using AI to bring your idea and concept to life, even if it is just a proof of concept.”
Denzel: “You understand what I'm saying?”
Cory: “Yes, sir.”
Denzel: “Then get the hell out of my face and go learn Comfy UI from Neko Dipicador!”
